Good Woman Circle exists to open doors for women. Part of that is being honest about what we do with your information. This page explains what we collect when you use this website, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Who we are
This website is run by Good Woman Circle, founded by Jo Gorniak and Debbie Eacott. For anything to do with your personal information, you can reach us at hello@goodwomancircle.com.
GOOD WOMAN CIRCLE LTD. Company Number: 17367429
What we collect
We only collect what you choose to give us, plus a small amount of technical information that every website receives.
When you fill in one of our forms (joining the list, registering interest in an event, or getting in touch about partnerships, investment or press), we collect the details you type in. That can include your name, email address, the city and country you are based in, your organisation, the type of investor you are, what you are interested in and any message you send us.
When you take the pitch quiz on the Take the Floor page, your answers stay on your own device. We do not see them or store them.
When you visit the website, our website platform records basic information such as the pages you visit, the type of device and browser you use and roughly where in the world you are. We use this to understand how the website is used, not to identify you.
Why we use it
We use your information to:
send you the updates you asked for, such as when applications open and when new dates are announced
reply to your message or enquiry
plan events in the places our community wants us to go next
manage applications and places at our events
keep the website working well and secure
Under UK data protection law we need a lawful reason for each of these. We rely on your consent for our mailing list, which you can withdraw at any time. We rely on our legitimate interests to reply to enquiries, plan events and run the website. Where you apply for or book a place at an event, we use your information to take the steps you have asked us to take.
Who we share it with
We never sell your information, and we never pass it to anyone so they can market to you.
We use a small number of trusted services to run Good Woman Circle. They only use your information to provide their service to us:
Squarespace, which hosts this website and stores form submissions and our mailing list
Google reCAPTCHA, which protects our forms from spam
our email provider, which delivers the messages you send us and our replies
Some of these services store information outside the UK, including in the United States. When that happens, they use the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Extension to the EU and US Data Privacy Framework.
We may also share information if the law requires us to.
How long we keep it
We keep your details on our mailing list until you unsubscribe. We keep enquiries and event information for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry or event, and then for no longer than two years after we were last in touch, unless the law asks us to keep it for longer.
Your rights
You have the right to:
ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
ask us to correct anything that is wrong
ask us to delete your information
object to us using your information, or ask us to limit how we use it
withdraw your consent at any time, for example by using the unsubscribe link in any of our emails
To do any of these, email hello@goodwomancircle.com. We will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a website saves on your device. Some are essential for this website to work, for example to keep forms secure. Others help us understand how visitors use the website. You can clear or block cookies at any time in your browser settings.
Some pages show content from other platforms, such as Instagram or embedded videos. Those platforms may set their own cookies, which are covered by their own privacy policies.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use your information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
